This tasty, powerful smoothie will leave you feeling energized and refreshed.

OVERVIEW

This is the smoothie, the one that I crave first thing in the morning when I am feeling a little under the weather when I want a pick me up, a flavor punch, or simply because I need some goodness in my life and know this is an easy way to get some. This smoothie is really beneficial to me when my stomach feels upset, it’s refreshing, hydrating, and full of powerful nutrients. It’s difficult to point out only 3 of the ingredients and their health benefits.

  • Cranberries bring a pop of flavor and also have been known to relieve inflammation, strengthen the liver, act as a natural diuretic to flush out toxins and fluid, promoting regularity and providing relief from bloating. A super fruit.

  • Blueberries are among the fruits with the highest antioxidant activity. Antioxidants are thought to help protect the body against the damaging effects of free radicals.

  • Ginger has a long tradition of being effective in alleviating symptoms of gastrointestinal distress. Ginger reduces symptoms associated with motion sickness including dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and cold sweating.

  • Turmeric offers regulation of inflammation, oxidation, cell signaling, and balance to blood sugar levels and blood fat levels.

  • Kale has a naturally rich sulfur content that helps boost the body’s detoxification enzymes, helping to clear carcinogenic substances.

  • Chia, Flax & Hemp Seeds all have an amazing amount Omega-3, -6 and -9 fatty acids which are essential fats that our bodies can’t make on their own.

Don’t forget about the bananas, spinach, coconut water and walnuts in this smoothie! All these provide essential nutrients to our diet as well such as potassium, fiber, and more omegas!

Cranberry Kick Smoothie

Full Recipe

  • SERVES: 1

INGREDIENTS
  • ¼ c ice

  • ¼ cup frozen cranberries

  • ¼ c frozen blueberries

  • ½ banana

  • Big handful each; spinach & kale

  • ⅓ c walnuts

  • 1 tbs chopped, fresh ginger

  • ¼ tsp ground turmeric

  • 1 c cold coconut water

  • 1 tbs chia & hemp seeds (optional)

  • 1 tsp flax seeds (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS
  • Blend all ingredients together in a high-speed blender until a smooth texture is formed. I recommend adding the ingredients in the order they are listed.
